The Newsweek Education Program provides educators with discounted classroom subscriptions to Newsweek magazine-a real-world text that encourages active learning-along with free weekly lesson plans, curriculum guides and teaching resources to make planning easier.  This website provides access to some of these resources as a free online option. 

Time for Kids

Earth and Sky for kids
A beautifully designed and intriguing introduction for kids to the things around them.  A sample topic:  If we found alien life, would we know it?, and the last words of Alex, the African Grey Parrot who changed people's minds about the intelligence of birds and who died on September 20th, 2007:  "You be good.  See you tomorrow.  I love you."

This fascinating online magazine has a different focus every issue, including such topics as paper, language, space, hair, chocolate, and memories!

National Geographic Magazine for Kids
